Cars in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police stated they were contacted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement say they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police state preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for details.

A senior political figure said the vandalism left him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
